When it comes to selling a home, first impressions are everything. Just as good curb appeal can make the difference between a mere “drive-by” versus a “walk-in,” good home staging can make the difference between “blah” and “AH – HA!”

One of my sellers recently closed escrow on a home that was staged by Robin Baker of Interiors of Mendocino. For months, the seller’s vacant home sat forlorn with only an occasional showing. I took the best photos I could - but there is only so much you can do with a vacant home. After several months had passed and after reducing the price substantially, my seller decided to stage her home with Robin Baker of Interiors of Mendocino.

While we had several favorable comments after the initial REALTOR® tour of homes when it first came on the market, there was also candid mention of some of its shortcomings. After staging the home and showing it on a second REALTOR® tour of homes, the comments were overwhelming positive! Staging the home also allowed me to take new photos which I was able to post to our local Multiple Listing Service and feature in an interactive virtual tour. This was the key that lead to the sale.

A short while later, an excited internet buyer contacted me directly, asking about the newly staged home and wanting to know when she could see it. “The home looks just like it did in the photos!” she said after seeing it in person. Now that escrow has closed, both the seller and buyer are just as happy as can be. My only regret is not having staged the home earlier!

If anyone is considering staging their home, Robin Baker of Interiors of Mendocino can get job the done. In this case, I’m convinced that staging this home made the difference between a mere “drive-by” and a “walkin,” all of which led to a successful close of escrow.
